It is used to cultivate the soil where crops are to be planted. It is also used to chop up unwanted weeds or crop remainders. It consists of high rigidity discs which slight concavity and normally arranged into four sections. The discs are offset so that they are not parallel with the overall direction of the implement. This is so they slice land, they cut over a litter bit to optimize the result. The concavity of the discs as well as their being offset causes them to loosen and pick up the soil they cut.
Its main characteristics summarized as follows:

It is mainly used for stubble cleaning before cultivation and earth breaking after cultivation of heavy soils, "harrowing instead of cultivation" of medium and light soils, scarification before seeding and weed control in fallow land.
